Nobody hires a custom home builder on impulse. A family planning a build in Edmonton, St. Albert or Sherwood Park will spend months researching, often visiting a builder's website a dozen times before they ever pick up the phone. Your site's job is to answer their questions along the way, so that when they are ready, you are the obvious call.

What do homebuyers look for on a builder's website?

Almost always the same five things: proof you have built homes like the one they imagine, a sense of what it will cost, a clear picture of the process, evidence you are good to work with, and an easy way to start a conversation. A site that answers all five, calmly and specifically, does the early part of every sales conversation for you.

Why do project pages matter so much?

A gallery of photos is a start. A project page is far stronger. Give each build its own page with the neighbourhood, size, style, a few words on what the owners wanted and how you delivered it, and plenty of photography. Buyers look for homes like theirs, and search engines reward pages that mention real places. A project in Windermere or on an acreage near Leduc becomes a page that can rank for exactly those searches.

Should a builder show pricing?

Yes, as honest guidance. You do not need a fixed price list. A clear explanation of typical cost per square foot ranges, what drives cost up or down, and what is included sets expectations, filters out poor fits and builds trust. Buyers who have seen a range before they call arrive ready to talk seriously.

How should you explain your process?

Lay out the stages from first meeting to handover, with rough timelines for each: design, approvals, construction and warranty. Building a home is the largest purchase most people make, and a clearly explained process reassures them that you will guide them through it.

The builder who answers the most questions before the first call usually gets the first call.

What builds trust fastest?

  • Reviews and short testimonials from recent clients, with the project they relate to.
  • Warranty information and memberships, such as your home warranty provider and local builder associations.
  • Real photos of your team on site, not stock images.
  • Clear contact details and a named person to talk to.

How do builders show up in local search?

Create a page for each main service, such as custom homes, infill builds and renovations, and mention the areas you build in. Keep your Google Business Profile active with project photos and reviews; our Google Business Profile guide walks through it. Add a new project page every time you hand over a home.

We work with home builders across Edmonton and Alberta on exactly this. See how we help builders, or start a conversation about your site.

Bring this to your own site

If a note here names something your brand or website is quietly getting wrong, the scorecard will tell you how much it matters and what to fix first.

Reading is easy. Deciding is the work.
