Identity system · Edition 01 · 2026
Everything that makes us look and sound like us, published in full. It is short on purpose. A brand this restrained is easier to keep when the rules fit on one page.
01 · Principles
If a choice about the brand cannot be justified by one of these, it is decoration and it goes.
01
One serif, one sans, two neutrals and no accent colour. Every element earns its place by surviving the question: would anyone notice if it were gone?
02
We read like a well set magazine, not a software dashboard. Generous margins, a clear hierarchy and headlines with one italic word doing the emotional work.
03
Motion has a job or it does not ship. Things arrive, settle and respond. Nothing bounces, spins or loops for attention.
04
We say the price, the timeline and what we did. Our own case studies name the limits of our involvement. Trust is the whole product.
02 · Voice
We write the way a good editor talks: plainly, in sentence case, with the confidence to leave things out. We say we, never I, and we never use a dash where a full stop would do.
We say
A full rebuild of boilermakers.ca, designed in Figma and built in WordPress.

Not
We delivered a complete end to end solution that drove massive growth.
Sentence case everywhere, including headlines and buttons.
One italic word per headline, chosen for feeling rather than emphasis.
No exclamation marks. No dashes. Numbers as figures, currency as CAD.
Short paragraphs. If a sentence needs a comma to breathe, it is two sentences.
03 · The mark
The mark is a single silhouette. It is never outlined, never given a gradient and never rendered as stone, metal or any other material. Ink on bone, bone on ink, nothing else.

Ink on bone · primary

Bone on ink · reversed
Particle form · motion only
Clear space
Keep a margin around the mark equal to the height of the thumb. Nothing sits inside it, including the wordmark.
Minimum size
Sixteen pixels on screen, six millimetres in print. Below that, use the wordmark alone.
Particle form
The dot assembled version exists only in motion, on screen. It is never used as a static image.

Wordmark · Montserrat 800, tracked

Wordmark · reversed
The 3 in BL3SSED is not a stylistic choice to be corrected. It is the name. Never set it as BLESSED, never lowercase it, never add punctuation.
04 · Colour
There is no accent colour. Emphasis comes from type, scale and white space. The greys exist so that hierarchy can whisper.

#131210 · text, marks, dark sections

#F7F5F0 · the page itself

05 · Typography
Fraunces at its lightest weight for anything that needs to be felt. Montserrat for anything that needs to be read quickly. Nothing bold, ever, except the wordmark.
Aa Quiet confidence
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, then reads the brief twice.

06 · Motion
Motion is how the brand breathes on screen. It is held to the same discipline as everything else: a small vocabulary, used consistently, with a reason for every move.
01
Headlines rise word by word from behind a hidden edge. Sections lift twenty eight pixels and fade in as they enter the viewport, staggered by ninety milliseconds when they are siblings.
02
Every easing curve is the same: fast out, slow in, cubic bezier .2 .7 .2 1. Durations run from 350 milliseconds for small elements to 1.1 seconds for headlines. Nothing overshoots.
03
Hover states lift by two pixels and invert. Cards lean five degrees toward the cursor. The particle mark loosens and rotates when approached and drifts apart on scroll.
04
When a visitor asks their device for reduced motion, every animation resolves instantly to its final state. The page must read perfectly with all of it turned off.
07 · Imagery and layout
When we use photography it is monochrome or close to it, warm rather than cold, and about making rather than posing. Stock imagery of offices, handshakes and laptops does not appear.
Grid
A twelve column grid at 84rem maximum width. Sections breathe with five to nine rem of vertical padding. Two column splits sit five to seven.
Rules and edges
Hairlines divide, never boxes. Corners are square except buttons, which are pills. No drop shadows on anything that is not floating.
Case study covers
Typographic: the client name in Fraunces, one italic word, a scattered particle field and a label line. Ink and bone alternate down the list.
